ABB has appointed Dinesh Paliwal as the president of its newly created division Global Markets & Technologies, a role created to guide the company's global operations once it eliminates a layer of management by replacing its two 'core' divisions with five business units: Power Products, Power Systems, Automation Products, Process Automation, and Robotics.  | | | Dinesh Paliwal, ABB | The new company structure will take effect January 1 2006.
Paliwal is currently a member of ABB's group executive committee, the chairman of ABB India, the chief executive officer and chairman of ABB (US) and regional manager for North America. Paliwal will retain all of these positions and responsibilities in addition to his new role as president of Global Markets & Technologies, reporting to the executive committee.
Paliwal is widely acknowledged as an ABB heavyweight, having brought the North American operations to profitability for the first time this year.
Educated in India and the US, Paliwal has worked in the process/utility industries for over 20 years in six countries. He serves as a board member on both the US-India and US-China Business Councils.
As president of Global Markets & Technologies, Paliwal will be responsible for driving the execution of the new corporate strategy across national and regional borders, pursuing operational synergies and developing key regions and trade areas, including North America, ABB's biggest market.Click here to read the rest of today's news stories.
